Innovative Product Development Through Imagination
“To invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk.” – Thomas Edison
The launch of our new Imagination course is well underway, and it has been a BLAST.
We know that most adults report that they use their imagination less than when they were children.
When we ask them why, they often say it’s because they a) don’t have time or b) don’t want to be judged.
So what happens when you provide them time, and permission to be their childlike selves?
Joy. Learning. Innovation.
Recently we worked with CpK Interiors, and one of our tasks was to create games out of a series of of materials. Each team created their game, gave it a name, and then the rest of the group played it.
The resulting games “Cripes” and “Ringer” were good enough to take to market, if they choose.
And the resulting realization of what is needed and how easy it is to foster imagination, was invaluable.
Imagination is often viewed as the spark behind invention, but it doesn’t occur in isolation. We know that innovative product development is about using what you already know and building on it in new and creative ways. This idea is echoed in Edison’s quote, which reminds us that even the most groundbreaking inventions come from combining existing knowledge with imaginative thinking.
In our Imagination Course, we focus on helping teams tap into their creative potential by encouraging them to draw on their previous experiences and knowledge. We guide participants to take familiar concepts and reimagine them, exploring how they can be applied in fresh, innovative ways. This process doesn’t require a blank slate but rather a willingness to view challenges from different angles and incorporate new ideas.
Imagination isn’t about starting from nothing—it’s about transforming what you already know into something new.
We do this in the most engaging ways. It works.
Are you ready to reimagine your approach to product development? Our courses are designed to unleash creativity and drive innovation. Let’s create something new together!
