Plan Boldly, Execute Brilliantly – Strategic Planning does not have to be dull!
Strategic Planning doesn’t have to be dull, but it CAN bring out the best, most creative insights of your stakeholders to foster a sense of optimism and joy about the future.
This past Saturday I worked with the Board of Directors from CMHA Ottawa to have some serious, yet hopeful conversations about the future direction of their organization.
You might notice we used some different methods to gather input and foster discussion.
Doesn’t it make sense that without different methods, you are going to come up with virtually the same things as last time?
But the world is not the same as “last time.”
Now, that’s not to say there was not some skepticism. Of course there was, and it would be strange to me if there wasn’t some curiosity of methods, a bit of apprehension, and maybe even anxiety about what was to come.
Change is not always easy.
But that’s the point – we have to find ways to feel comfortable embracing moving forward, and I think that’s the magic of our methods and PlayDoh Power Solutions.
These methods might not be for everyone.
They might not be for people and organizations who are:
⭐Happy with the status quo
⭐Unwilling to try something new
⭐Unable to see the value of honouring everyone’s voice through the process – they’d rather just get it done.
That’s not the CMHA Ottawa, though, they have been a leader in the community for over 70 years and are committed to changing with the times to continue to grow and even BETTER support their community.
Saturday was just one of our consultations through the Strategic Planning process. We are working with Clients and Peers, Management Team, All Staff, Indigenous, Gender Diversity and Anti-Black Racism groups, and with Community Partners so we can better understand the challenges, dreams, and ideas from all stakeholders.
It’s a challenging world and CMHA Ottawa undertakes challenging work.
How inspiring to see the commitment of this Board of Directors, and their determination to hear the voices of all stakeholders as they strategically strive towards a brighter future for their clients, staff, and community.
