Starfish Synergies is now a Certified Women Business Enterprise

Starfish Synergies is Certified!

Two women playing PlayDoh Power Solutions Team building

We are proud to announce that Starfish Synergies is now a certified Women Business Enterprise by Women Business EnterprisesCanada Council (WBE Canada)! That means that corporations (like TD Bank, TELUS, and BMO) or government organizations (from City of Toronto to BDC) focusing on stronger supplier diversity can turn to knowledgeable and independent suppliers (like us!) for their corporate training needs.

For those who aren’t familiar, WBE Canada certifies majority-owned controlled and managed women’s’ businesses. They also provide opportunities for these businesses to gain access to bids for corporate contracts and part of their supplier diversity programs. To be certified, you must go through WBE Canada’ s rigorous selection process, and guess what? We passed!

About Supplier Diversity

Supplier diversity is the strategic business process of corporations reaching out to groups not traditionally included in their supply chains, including women-owned businesses that want to compete for contracts.

It’s about levelling the playing field so that all potential suppliers can participate in and benefit from corporate dollars. For example, while women’ owned businesses make up 47% of Canada’s 1.6 million small to medium sized enterprises, they represent only 5% of corporate and government contracts. Certification is not intended to create an unfair advantage for women and doesn’t guarantee business for certified firms from participating corporations.

This is a big step for Starfish Synergies! We are excited about our certification and look forward to the opportunities WBE Canada provides!
